Application Guidelines

Here you will find all the information you need for applying to AAF 2026 and a link to the application form.

Deadline for applications is 12th May 2026.

  • Applications are open to anyone working in archaeology and related fields who is based in Greece. This includes those affiliated with institutions as well as independent researchers and practitioners.

    Applicants who applied in previous years are welcome to apply again. Those whose activities were selected in 2025 may reapply; however, they must propose a different activity for this year’s festival.

  • We invite proposals for interactive workshops and activities that explore stories from the past.

    • Activities should be designed for families, with drop-in tasks taking 10-15 minutes to complete, but offering opportunities to expand for those who are curious to learn more.

    • They should be creative, hands-on, and educational, fostering curiosity about ancient myths and archaeology

    • They should humanise objects and stories of the past, illustrating the relevance of archaeology to our lives today. 

    • Types of activities could include hands-on crafts, interactive experiments, storytelling and games, scavenger hunts etc.

  • Successful applicants will receive:

    • One to one support throughout the planning and execution of their activities

    • Publicity through the Greek media and other outlets 

    • A buffet lunch on the day

    • At least one team member should be able to communicate in Greek and in English 

    • Selected applicants will need to cover the cost of their own materials and travel to Athens

  • Applications will be considered by a committee of experts and you will hear the result of your application by mid-June.
