Culinary Mysteries of the Ancient World

  • Join us for an engaging exhibition exploring ancient culinary practices, with a focus on prehistoric Greece!

Through the questions "What are ceramic cooking pots, why do we study them, and how?", visitors will discover how archaeology uncovers the secrets of ancient kitchens. Explore the science behind ancient pottery with an illustrated guide to ceramic analysis, and view real ceramic thin sections under a microscope. A replica cooking pot will show use-wear marks and soot deposits, offering a hands-on look at prehistoric food preparation.

Adults can test their knowledge with a fun quiz, while children can enjoy vessel-themed puzzles and colouring activities—creating their own ancient pot to take home! This interactive experience brings the ancient world to life for all ages, combining education with creativity and discovery.
